Meet the Crew of Time Bandit Fireworks


Captain Johnathan Hillstrand


The captain of the F/V Time Bandit during the King Crab Season, Johnathan Hillstrand was born
and raised in Homer, AK, and is a third generation Alaskan fisherman.
Johnathan has been addicted to fireworks since childhood when his Dad would bring fireworks
when he came back into port and let the boys light them to celebrate his coming home.
 
Today, Johnathan still uses fireworks on the F/V Time Bandit to celebrate the opening and closing
of seasons, and for the occasional fireworks competition.
 

 

Johnathan has been on commercial fishing vessels since the age of 3, began fishing at the age of 7, and began commercially fishing for crab at the age of 17.

 

Although Johnathan has little time for leisure, when he has time off he enjoys riding his Harley and spending time with friends and family. He is also a NASCAR and NHRA enthusiast, and an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
 
Captain Andy Hillstrand
 
Andy Hillstrand is the captain of the F/V Time Bandit during the Opilio Crab Fishing Season, and has been a commercial crab fisherman for 31 years.
 
Andy always keeps fireworks on the boat so that when he's getting his ass kicked by the ice or his pots are light, he can light them off to make him feel better.
Both Andy and Johnathan remember home videos of their father and grandfather throwing dynamite in a lake. Today, they feel like their Dad and grandpa would be proud of how they've advanced the Hillstrand family explosive tradition.
 
Captain Andy is also an accomplished musician who enjoys writing music, playing guitar and drums, and currently has music available on Itunes. He also enjoys horses, sport fishing, and scuba diving.
 
While owning and operating a successful commercial fishing operation is certainly a full-time job, Andy and his brothers Johnathan and Neal also manage to find time for other business ventures including Time Bandit Fireworks, Time Bandit Spirits, Time Bandit Productions and Time Bandit Entertainment. Additionally, they have a full line of merchandise and own the Time Bandit Gear Store.
